Trees of the Knoll

Do you have to be an expert to make a field guide? The artist convened a small group of participants for a review of botanical specimens at the Bell Museum on the Campus of University of MN. After a brief introduction to botanical drawing and observing plants, the group walked a special grove of trees called The Knoll. Inside of a couple of hours, nine species were identified and drawn showing identifying characteristics. The artist scanned and assembled the drawings into a letter-sized document that could be folded into a micro field guide.
