Monarch Festival

Every year, the monarch butterflies begin their long journey from Minnesota to the Sierra Madre mountains in south central Mexico in the fall. The Minneapolis Monarch Festival is a gathering of thousands celebrating this connection between Minnesota and Mexico through science learning, art making, music and community. Each year since 2015, I have designed a poster highlighting a way to support monarch habitat. I provide and staff four screenprinting stations that allow festival goers to screen print their own posters to take home. Along the way, we talk about monarch habitat and the screenprinting process. All ages participate, from tot to elder, and many folks return each year to collect the new poster.
